Shannon Kenna

Chief Marketing and Communications Officer

Shannon Kenna commenced as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMCO) for The Australian National University (ANU) in June 2025. She leads the ANU Marketing and Communications Division, which oversee the University's brand identity, media relations, corporate communications, major events and external engagement.

The CMCO is part of the University's leadership group and provides strategic advice to the Vice-Chancellor, Executive and the Council on corporate affairs matters.

Shannon brings over 20 years of leadership experience in government communications, policy and stakeholder engagement. As a senior executive in the Australian Government, including eight years at the Treasury, Shannon led high-profile national campaigns and strategic initiatives - most notably the communications response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the delivery of more than ten Federal Budgets. More recently, Shannon has worked as a communications consultant and previously served as Managing Director at market research agency Pollinate, where she advised government and industry clients on strategic engagement, brand, and communication challenges.
