[ON DEMAND] Indigenous policies and the upcoming election
Join the ANU Indigenous Alumni Network for this political discussion. Speakers will share their insights on Indigenous policies and their importance in the upcoming elections, delving into their own experiences and discussing how we can all better support First Nations peoples.
This discussion will be moderated by Frank Gafa (BA '15), Chair of the ANU Indigenous Alumni Network.
Meet the speakers
Donisha Duff (Master of Business Administration '13) is a proud First Nations woman born on Thursday Island, Torres Strait. She has significantly contributed to improving the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through 20 years of working in health policy, planning and management. She currently chairs the not-for-profit organisation Stars Ltd - a school-based engagement program for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls. She is now running for the House of Representative seat of Bowman in Queensland for the Australian Labor Party.
Dr Tjanara Goreng Goreng (PhD Philosophy '18) is a Wakka Wakka woman, academic, former public servant and proud grandmother. As both a unionist and public sector whistle-blower, she has learnt that standing up for what is right can be tough at the best of times, but living with integrity is the only way to bring about real change. She is tired of the Federal Government failing to listen to those who are marginalised in our communities, and that is why she is running for The Australian Greens for the Senate in the ACT.
