The CAP Bangkok Alumni Ambassador council presents Dr Greg Raymond: A talk on the US- Thai relationship

The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific Bangkok Alumni Ambassador Council is pleased to feature Dr Greg Raymond for a talk on the current state of the Thai-US relationship and the effect of public memory on international relations.

Dr Raymond will be speaking about his new book, co-authored with Professor John Blaxland "The Us-Thai Alliance and Asian International Relations-History, Memory and Current Developments."

Using expansive original research, Dr Raymond and Professor Blaxland examine the present and historical relationship between Thailand and the United States, using perceptions of the United States by key defence actors in Thailand to guide the narrative.

The book also looks to the future of the relationship and how a rising China is leading the United States blind to the complexities of Asian international relations.

Dr Gregory Raymond is a lecturer in the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs within the College of Asia and the Pacific. Dr Raymond's research is primarily concerned with Southeast Asian politics and foreign relations, and has authored a number of books on this research, 'Thai Military Power: A Culture of Strategic Accommodation' and 'The United States-Thai Alliance: History, Memory and Current Developments. Dr Raymond is currently the convenor for the Global Research Spoke at the Australian Centre for China in the World, having previously worked previously as policy adviser in the Australian Government.
