Harriet Bateman

During Harriet's time at the ANU she received the Cambridge University Press Lecturer's Prize for International Relations, represented the University at the National Student Leadership Forum, and was selected twice as the University delegate to the US-Australia Student Symposium in conjunction with the International Scholar Laureate Program. She graduated with first-class Honours in International Relations in 2010 and has worked as a graduate intern for a strategic policy institute, parliamentary assistant and election campaign manager. Harriet currently works at Ernst & Young and also holds a Master of Communication from Griffith University.

Since 2013, Harriet has been one of the University's dedicated volunteers when she was appointed to the  ANU Young Alumni Council, a high-level volunteer led group that advises, supports and provides leadership to the University on alumni programs, services, events and communication for the young alumni community. This year, she was named as the Council's Chair. Harriet's vision for this volunteer-led initiative is to connect young ANU alumni not only in Australia, but also across the globe.

"I'm originally from Sydney, and thought I'd only be in Canberra for three years. Nine years later, I'm still here. This year, the Young Alumni Council is about to embark on an ambitious growth plan that includes events in Singapore and North America."
