Service to the community, no matter where you live, is at the very core of what ANU taught me.
I live over 16,000 km from Australia. How do I give back to a country and the university that helped me developed into the young professional I am today?
For me, one way of giving back is by volunteering for the ANU North American Alumni Association. Giving some of my time and resources to the Alumni Association allows me to support and advance the cause of learning and to help ANU to continue to take its place among the great universities in the world.
Through the Alumni Association I am able to work with the university community to support and organise different events that spread the mission of ANU and the role Australia has played and continues to play in world affairs. These range from smaller scale alumni gatherings to larger scale events such as ANZAC Day celebrations in Chicago.
I am proud to represent ANU and Australia not only at these alumni events, but also through my daily interactions with others. Service to the community, no matter where you live, is at the very core of what ANU taught me.
