Meet the ANU alumni team: Louis Summerfield
I am an alumnus myself, so returning to campus after 10 years has definitely had a positive nostalgic effect.

What do you like most about working with the alumni team?
I am an alumnus myself, so returning to campus after 10 years has definitely had a positive nostalgic effect. It's also been the most fun I've had in my working career. We have the opportunity to celebrate all the awesome accomplishments of our alumni and work with amazing people every day. We also have a large amount of creative freedom and work with incredible teams that support all of our crazy ideas and help turn them into a reality.
Who in the ANU alumni community has inspired you and why?
2019 Young Alumna of the Year, Alexandra Clare. Her work in the Middle East training conflict-affected youth how to code and opening up opportunities in the tech industry is truly inspiring for a number of reasons. Alexandra is living proof that no matter what kind of challenges are before you, they can be overcome if you're willing to put in the work and can have extremely positive results.
Why do you think people should stay involved with the alumni community?
There are so many reasons to stay involved, you have the opportunity to connect with and hear from other members of the alumni community.
- We host amazing events on campus, around Australia and all over the world.
- There are always public lectures on a large range of topics, no matter what your interests are.
- Our events are a great opportunity to network with alumni in your industry.
- You have the opportunity to attend dinners with high profile guest speakers and will have the opportunity to engage with them.
- The most important reason is we have a lot of fun!
What did you want to be when you were 5?
A Pilot or Astronaut depending on the day you asked me.
