Indigenous Alumna of the Year
Congratulations to Mikaela Jade (MAppCybernetics '21), our Indigenous Alumna of the Year for 2022.
Mikaela is a Cabrogal Woman and the founder and CEO of Indigital, Australia's first Indigenous Edu-tech company. From launching the project from a remote town in the Northern Territory while working as Park Ranger, Mikaela has grown Indigital into a vital tool in creating meaningful pathways for Indigenous people into the digital economy and the creation of future technologies.
Mikaela's visionary work has led to her becoming a United Nations Permanent Forum Indigenous Issues delegate, Tribal Link Alumni member (New York), Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Wollongong, and Fellow of the Australian Rural Leadership Program. She has also won numerous awards since 2018 - including Indigenous Leader of the Year, Women in Digital for 2021.
Today, Indigital partners with Microsoft and Telstra Enterprises to deliver a digital skills program drawing on cultural language and knowledge for technology skills development in schools and communities. Indigital continues to grow and bridge the digital divide between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
