Richard Roxburgh
Richard is an actor and director who has starred in a number of Australian films and TV series and stage productions such as Blue Murder, Hamlet, and Toy Symphony.
He has also played various roles in Hollywood productions such as Moulin Rouge, Mission: Impossible 2, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Van Helsing.
Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University in 1984 before deciding to pursue acting. He was admitted to the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and later joined the Sydney Theatre Company soon after graduating from NIDA.
Throughout the course of his entertainment career, he has won numerous awards. In January 2013 Richard won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Lead Actor and the Logie award for Most Outstanding Actor in 2011 for his performance in the Australian TV series Rake, which he also co-produces.
In August 2014 he was awarded Best Male Actor in a Play at the Helpmann Awards for his role as Estragon in the Sydney Theatre Company production, Waiting for Godot. This was his second Helpmann awarded in this category, winning previously in 2008 for his role as Roland Henning in Toy Symphony.
Richard has also dabbled in directing and producing. In 2007, he directed Romulus, My Father, which won Best Film, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Young Actor's Award at the 2007 AFI Awards.
Off-camera, Richard and his wife, Italian actress Silvia Colloca reside in Sydney's Northern Beaches with their two sons. Recently, he has started book writing, authoring Artie and the Grime Wave, a children's adventure novel, releasing in October 2016.
