TEQSA re-registration

The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) recently announced that ANU has been reaccredited for the next seven years without condition.

Seven years is the maximum registration period awarded by TEQSA, which is a brilliant endorsement of both ANU and everyone who was involved in securing this outcome.

Spanning from early 2021 to mid-2023, the project to prepare the re-registration application comprised four working groups and included consultation and collaboration with 18 areas across the University, with final endorsement provided by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and approval by the Vice-Chancellor.

The University’s registration will continue up to 13 December 2030.

As a registered provider of higher education to domestic and overseas students in Australia, ANU is required under legislation to include particular registration details on public materials.

The easiest thing each staff member can do is update their own email signature according to the ANU Identity Hub e-signature resource page.

DVC(RI) recruitment update and interim arrangement

Last year, the University ran an EOI process for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation). We received strong interest in the role and number of excellent applications.

A formal announcement on the outcome of the search is expected to be made by early February.

In the meantime, Professor Ann Evans will be stepping into the role as Interim DVC (R&I) until late February.

To stay connected to our community and leadership team, keep reading On Campus every Tuesday for updates on key new appointments and movements.

ANU Enterprise Agreement update - public holidays

Under the University’s new Enterprise Agreement, staff are able to elect to substitute any public holiday for an alternative day off in lieu, subject to the operational requirements of the business unit.

If you wish to request this for the upcoming public holiday on Friday 26 January, you are encouraged to have a discussion with your supervisor prior to this Friday.

For further information, please see clause 43 of the Enterprise Agreement or contact your local Human Resources team with any queries.

Off-boarding and general access hygiene

Ensuring that access lists for buildings on campus and ANU mailboxes are regularly checked for accuracy and relevance is of paramount importance for maintaining a secure and safe environment at ANU.

The ANU UniSafe Security Team recommends local areas perform monthly access list reviews to ensure that only authorised individuals have access to specific areas and mailboxes, reducing the risk of unauthorised access, security breaches and potential threats.

ANU Security also reminds supervisors to review building and mailbox access during the off-boarding process.

For more information about staff off-boarding, please review the Departure checklist.

Get your skin checked for summer

As we come into the heat of summer, remember to stay hydrated and be sun smart. On a hot summer day, sunburn can start to occur in just under 15 minutes.

Overexposure to UV light can increase risk of skin cancer. It is important to be familiar and check your own skin if you notice any changes. Look out for:

- Changes to colour, size, shape or thickness of moles and freckles over period of weeks or months

- Small lumps

- Any wounds that are not healing

Skin-checks are available at the ANU Medical Centre. Standard fees apply for staff members.
