Fenner Hall recently participated in the Black Dog Insititute's campaign 'Mullets for Mental Health'! They managed to raise over $6000 with many Fenner ressies sporting some very filthy hairdos.

💡 Updates at a glance

We have moved to Step 3.2 of Canberra's Recovery Plan which includes an increase in events and gatherings. We have updated the Functions on Campus Protocol to reflect this.

The ANU Library has developed a guide to COVID-19 resources. This guide was curated by subject specialist librarians and contains lists of resources on COVID-19 which are available from the ANU Library and on the open web.

The ACT Government and ANU have teamed up to fund a scholarship and research awards to investigate the community impacts of loose-fill asbestos. The best part, you choose your field of study. Apply today.

The last day to withdraw from Semester 2, 2020 courses without failure (WD) is now Wednesday 4 November.

Nominations are now open for the annual Vice-Chancellor's and Chancellor's Awards. Nominations will close on Friday 30 October 2020.

The Research School of Psychology Annual Lecture will be delivered by Professor Stephen Reicher. He will be discussing the contribution of psychology to understanding people’s behaviour under crisis.

Malaysia is facing unprecedented challenges in 2020. Join leading experts from Malaysia and Australia in search of alternative visions for the future at the 2020 Malaysia Update from 21-23 October.

The second Asian-Australian Leadership Summit (AALS) From the backrooms to the boardrooms will take place online on 26 to 29 October.

Doing research is only one part of the equation. But how should we communicate it? This is one of the questions that Inger Mewburn has dedicated her career to addressing.

ANU researchers will help develop cheaper and more efficient solar cells, as well entirely new types, thanks to more than $3.2 million in Australian Government funding.

ANU researchers have collaborated with artists and cultural organisations in Vanuatu to open the Step Folem Step exhibition. This exhibition explores the impacts of climate change on Vanuatu, how indigenous knowledge might help address this crisis and the bringing of traditional art and styles into contemporary practice.

Professor Imogen Mitchell, ANU Medical School Director was seconded to Canberra Health Services in March to prepare ACT health facilities for the pandemic. Thanks to her work, the ACT is in a strong position to deal with what might lie ahead.

Not willing to have the Medical Science Workplaces course gutted by COVID-19, Sara Rapson used creative thinking to allow students to visit, interact and explore potential workplaces.

Alumnus Brogan Goode and his partner Cindy Zeng dedicate most of their weekends to a unique cause – vlogging about Canberra’s vibrant hospitality sector. In a move to support local businesses, the couple use their social media channel, Capital Food Adventure, to encourage fellow Canberrans to explore their city’s surprising and unique flavours.

6 – 16 October: The ANU Institute for Space (InSpace) are marking World Space Week with a suite of virtual events from 6-16 October.

13 October: As part of the National Security College's 10th Anniversary Conversation Series, Michael Pezzullo — Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs — will join Professor Rory Medcalf in conversation. The Secretary will share his perspectives on national security and how we can work together across Government, the private sector and in our communities to maintain a prosperous, secure and united Australia.

14 October: Come and join our most recent grads for the ANU Alumni Class of 2020 Series – Soft Skills for Success. Our expert alumni panel will discuss what employers value and how you can set yourself up for career success.

15 October: Can an algorithm be a better decision maker than a human, or is the seemingly objective nature of artificial intelligence (AI) misleading? Join Dr Claire Benn and Dr Jason Ketter as they discuss the ethics of AI, as part of the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific's In Conversation series.

16 October: Join the College of Asia and the Pacific for their Conversations across the Creek: Bushfire Summer. Three scholars studying bushfires from different disciplinary and institutional perspectives will share their research and reflections on the nation's Bushfire summer with interested colleagues from across the university.

21 October: Join the ANU College of Law and their expert panellists as they confront a hypothetical domestic terrorist attack and explore the possible ramifications, anticipated reactions and the likely effects on the future of our society.

22 October: Nothing strikes stress into the heart of students and academics like assessment. Join us for an honest, constructive conversation about assessment in the days of remote learning at the next ANU Lunch Vox webinar, Testing Times: Exploring Assessment.
