ANU to play a role in eight new ARC Centres of Excellence
ANU will play a pivotal role researching issues of national and international significance as part of eight new Australian Research Council (ARC) Centres of Excellence (CoE).
In 2021 the ANU Council approved the Digital Master Plan (DMP) which presented the vision for the University’s digital future. As part of this, the University committed to the Student First Program which will be the largest transformation project undertaken by the University.
Student First Program Director, Dean MacDonald, explains that the Program is unique in that it will consist of several initiatives all aimed at uplifting the student and staff experience.
This is a great achievement for the University and provides a future-focussed whole-of university approach, outlining the practical steps ANU can make to realise the aspirations of the ANU Strategic Plan.
Led by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Digital) Professor Maryanne Dever, and developed with extensive consultation and stakeholder review, the Strategy connects all elements that are critical to our success in learning and teaching. It defines our distinctive approach, and identifies the skills, competencies and supports needed to secure and maintain our position as a leading university. The Strategy establishes shared expectations across the university and guides the application of organisational resources.
Recent disruptions have presented a series of questions and challenges to universities – our new Learning and Teaching Strategy is ready to meet them head on. In tandem with the 10 Year Digital Masterplan and the new Curriculum Framework which will be going to Academic Board for approval next month, the steps that we are taking forward together will become increasingly clear and unified.
We are also excited to announce that the Centre of Learning and Teaching (CLT), which will be critical to the implementation of the Strategy, has recently secured a new Director, Lucy Arthur. Under Lucy’s leadership, the Centre will take on a significant role in the implementation of the Learning and Teaching Strategy.
The Academic Portfolio team look forward to working together, across the university, on the next phase of our journey.
