A trip of a lifetime for Hemraj Shahi

Hemraj Shahi isn’t afraid to make the most of every opportunity while on his Australia Awards Scholarship.

Soon after arriving at ANU, Hemraj read a flyer for a competitive six-week forestry internship opportunity at the Thamarrurr Development Corporation Rangers in Wadeye, a small town in the Northern Territory.

From boating in the Timor Sea, to eating fresh crab meat, to being gifted a didgeridoo by an Indigenous Elder, Hemraj treasured his time at the Rangers.

“All those moments were incredible and memorable."

Diversity at the Frontier: Gender Equality in Space

Thursday 13 April, 6-7.30pm

On 25 March 2019, NASA announced it would launch the first all-female spacewalk of two women at the International Space Station. Yet, days after the announcement was made, the spacewalk was cancelled as there was only one space suit that would fit a woman. Months later, the historic spacewalk was completed, yet the incident highlighted the gender gap that remains in space.

Join our panel of national and international experts to explore the importance of diversity and gender equality in space.
