ANU Success at the National Debating Championships

Three ANU students have had extraordinary success at the National Debating Championships.

The winning team, ANU 1 of the ANU Debating Society, became the national debating champions after winning the Australasian Intervarsity Debating Championships last month.

ANU 1, featuring Jordyn Gibson, Gypsy Polacheck and Tetsushi Kajihara, won nine debates during the tournament to take the Championship. The team also won three smaller tournaments in preparation for the championships.

Despite numerous grand final appearances, the 2023 championships mark the first time ANU has won the tournament since 2006.

Power outage resolved

Yesterday’s power outage that affected approximately one third of the ANU Acton Campus was caused by a fallen tree that struck power lines on Liversidge Street. Evoenergy fixed the impacted power lines, and power was restored to all affected buildings yesterday afternoon.

The ANU Landscape & Conservation Team has removed the tree fall and debris, and the sidewalk is now open to the public. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this incident.

Single Service Model for Student Associations – Announcement

The University wishes to sincerely thank the current student leadership teams for their hard work and professionalism during this period of transition.
