An update from the Chief Operating Officer on our Pathway

Hi everyone

The last few days have reminded us yet again of the ups and downs of living with COVID. While the health experts work to determine what impact the Omicron variant is likely to have, please continue on the Pathway to 2022 that we’ve laid out. As always, the health advice will guide our decision making and you can read Professor Tracy Smart’s expert analysis in this edition.

One thing we know for sure is that vaccines are our best defence. Recent outbreaks in less vaccinated countries have shown us the importance of having coverage and are a timely reminder that while we live in one of the most vaccinated cities on Earth and the vast majority of us have our two doses, we’re not finished yet. The third or ‘booster’ dose is going to be just as important so please remember to go and get yours as soon as you are eligible.

Events and functions update

From Monday 6 December 2021, events on the Acton campus will follow ACT Government restrictions. Other ANU campuses should continue to follow their local state and territory guidelines.

Thanks to everyone for your patience over the last few weeks as we staggered the return of events to ensure our community’s safety.

With this relaxing of restrictions, it’s important to remember that our focus is on a great 2022 experience. When deciding whether to approve an in-person event for the remainder of 2021, local areas should consider the impact of compressed lead times on event staff wellbeing and on the quality of event experience.

Please also remember that the situation can change quickly and these restrictions may need to change in response to new health directives.

We have two more editions of On&Off Campus left for the year and I’ll provide you with a final update before we all sign off for a well-earned break; and remember to book some leave if you can.

The Academic Integrity Rule 2021 commences today and replaces the Academic Misconduct Rule.

The new Academic Integrity Rule promotes academic integrity and focuses on educating students. It also outlines updated processes that are followed if academic integrity is breached, improving transparency and fairness for students.

All students are encouraged to visit the Academic Integrity website for information about services available to assist with assignments, examinations and other learning activities, as well as understanding and upholding academic integrity.
