ANU building lit up in solidarity with Ukraine

Blue and yellow lit up the façade of a building on ANU campus last week.

The initiative was a part of 'ANU after dark at Enlighten' and signifies the University's stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people in their defence against Russia's invasion.

A window to our past

Herbert Cole “Nugget” Coombs was a founding member of ANU. As Director-General of Post-War Reconstruction, Herbert advocated for a new research institution in Canberra as an essential part of recovery after the Second World War. He became the University’s fourth Chancellor in 1968.

A long-time advocate for Indigenous affairs, Herbert is remembered as “a small man with an immense heart and intellect”.
