Giving without restrictions
While every year brings its own challenges, the same commitment remains from ANU to support students on their path to success. In 2023, donors who made an unrestricted gift to The Australian National University (ANU) through the Vice-Chancellor’s Strategic Priorities Fund or the ANU Fund ensured this commitment could continue.
Established to allow the University to be responsive to issues as they arise, and to allocate funds towards tackling the areas of greatest immediate need, gifts to these funds ultimately supported the Kambri Scholars Program in 2023. The decision to allocate funds in this way was made at the direction of Distinguished Professor Brian Schmidt, the former Vice-Chancellor and President of ANU, who demonstrated a strong commitment to equality of access to education during his tenure.
Unrestricted giving helps build programs like the Kambri Scholars Program, which continues to bring Indigenous students like Thomson Fleming from all over Australia to pursue their education at the University. Today, ANU has one of the highest graduation rates for Indigenous students among Australian universities.
We are grateful to those who trust ANU with an unrestricted donation. These contributions ensure support is allocated to the areas that need it most.
