Supporting high-performance students on every pitch
The ANU Cricket Club (ANUCC) Scholarship and the generosity of the ANU donor community continue to be powerful forces in the lives of student-athletes, providing not only financial support but the opportunity to thrive in both study and sport.
Whether it’s representing ACT, lifting a trophy, or achieving academic goals, the impact of this scholarship in 2025 could be seen not only in individual achievements but in a historic moment for the Club.
On 2 March 2025, ANUCC claimed its first John Gallop Cup victory in almost three decades, defeating Tuggeranong Valley Cricket Club in a gripping final at Chisholm Oval. The win marked a major milestone for the Club—its first title since the 1996/97 season—and a proud moment for Vice-Captain and ANUCC Scholarship recipient Felix Bennett.
“We haven’t made a final in a long time, so to get over that hump was pretty surreal,” says Felix. “There were a few guys at the club who were there the last time we won, and that made it really special. Everyone understood the significance of it and we definitely enjoyed ourselves.”
Felix, who has played cricket for ANU over the last two years, was awarded the ANUCC Scholarship in 2024. The support enabled him to commit more time to training and performance, resulting in a call-up to the ACT men’s team.
Balancing university and cricket alone can be very tough at times,” he said. “The scholarship gave me an opportunity to better balance work, university and cricket. I’m so grateful to the donors for making this possible.
