July 2018 Graduations: student speaker Ms Alana Tolman
Alana Tolman graduates with a Bachelor of Asian Studies (Honours); she is originally from Townsville, North Queensland and moved to Canberra to study at the ANU.
She has been actively involved with the College of Asia and the Pacific Students Society (as Education Officer), ANU Students Association (as Course Representative and College Representative) and was the founding President of ANU Southeast Asia Society.
In 2014 she received a New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant to undertake a short course at Waseda University, Japan.
In 2015 she was the New Colombo Plan Fellow to Brunei Darussalam and spent one year studying at Universiti Brunei Darussalam and interned at the Brunei Law Society, as well as receiving an Ethel Tory Scholarship to study Indonesian intensively at Satya Wacana Christian University in Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia.
In 2016 she was a Darmasiswa Scholar at the State University of Medan, in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Alana now works for the Commonwealth Government in Canberra.
