Trading for the region
Australia’s role as a major regional player will be demonstrated at the G-20 summit, says World Trade Organization director-general ROBERTO AZEVEDO.
As head of the world’s only international body dealing with rules of trade between nations, Roberto Azevedo plays a key role in the development of links in the Asia-Pacific region.
At the end of last year, Azevedo presided over the Bali Package trade agreement, which aimed at lowering global trade barriers to make it easier for developing countries to trade with the developed world.
In the latest edition of ANU Reporter, we share an edited speech from when Azevedo spoke at ANU about his hopes for November's summit and the leadership role Australia plays in the wider Asia-Pacific region.
