Out of Session Conferral of Award
ANU do not confer awards on a case-by-case basis after a student has completed all program requirements.
Instead, students may apply to have their ANU award conferred outside the standard Semester 1 (July) and Semester 2 (December) conferral periods through the Out of Session Conferral application periods:
- February to May; and
- August to November
You are eligible to apply for Out of Session Conferral if:
- All your course grades are finalised.
- You have no outstanding obligations to the University (e.g. library fines, accommodation fees, tuition fees etc.).
- You are not waiting for appeal or reassessment outcomes.
Out of Session Conferral processing times take up to 6 weeks to finalise/until program is awarded.
There are no costs associated with this process for conferral. Testamur/s will be posted to nominated mailing address (domestic or international) and all awarded digital documents will be accessible via My eQuals platform.
If your conferral aligns with the main conferral periods in July and December, you will be included alongside coursework students, No Out of Session Conferral application is needed.
Note for PhD Candidates – The title ‘Doctor’ or ‘Dr’ may only be used once your program has been officially conferred/Awarded.
