ANU China Centre is excited to invite our partner high schools and your talented students to participate in the 2026 Planet Hack. This annual collaborative hackathon, hosted by the Australian National University (ANU) College of Science and Medicine, brings together the next generation of innovators to tackle our world's most urgent challenges.
Since 2022, Planet Hack has grown into a premier regional event. Each year, we are proud to welcome many leading high schools from across China, and our community extended beyond the mainland to include teams from South Korea and Singapore. This is a unique opportunity for your students to collaborate on a global stage, working alongside peers from across the country and Asia Pacific.

The 2026 Planet Hack topic is ‘🌞Solar Weather Forecasting & Mitigation’
That's right! This year, our young innovators will dive into the dynamic world of space weather, exploring how we can better predict and prepare for solar storms that impact satellites, power grids, and communication systems. As our daily lives become increasingly dependent on technology, understanding and mitigating the effects of space weather has never been more critical, and we can't wait to see the creative solutions our participants will develop.

- 30–31 October: Planet Hack 2026
- End of November/Early December: Winners announced, and prizes awarded

Planet Hack is an annual collaborative hackathon, hosted by the Australian National University in partnership with high schools, where young innovators come together to solve the world’s most pressing challenges. Over two days, students work side by side, brainstorming, coding, and developing solutions that address key global issues, from climate change to sustainable urban living.
Planet Hack focuses -
on net zero and sustainability, aligning with global climate priorities by challenging students to develop innovative solutions to climate related issues based on UN Sustainable Development Goals.
