Partnerships in China

China is the Australian National University's 4th largest overseas research collaborator (by publication volume) and has fostered key strategic research collaborations with Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University and others.

ANU currently has 89 partnership agreements in place with 43 institutions and organisations in Mainland China. ANU established key relationships as early as 1980 when a partnership with Peking University was signed. Since the signing of this MOU, the strength and number of partnerships have multiplied across research collaborations, faculty and staff exchanges as well as student exchanges. ANU also enjoys high level agreements with the China Scholarship Council, dating back for more than 15 years, and China Party School as well as many of China's top universities.

ANU itself hosts leading expertise on the study of China with vigorous and influential research in Australia and globally as well as several specialized bodies devoted to deepening understanding of China, including:

China Australia Centre for Personalised Immunology

The China-Australia Center for Personalised Immunology is a joint research centre between Australian National University and Shanghai Jiaotong University. CACPI aims to help people living with immune-related diseases by providing a 'personalised' diagnosis and finding more effective treatments for their condition. The Centre's vision is to improve the treatment and quality of life of patients with immune diseases. The Centre undertakes groundbreaking research in clinical and basic biology using cutting-edge genome sequencing and discovery technology to elucidate the mechanism of disease in individual patients and improve treatment. The Centre works with:

  • Patients with lupus and immunodeficiency diseases
  • Clinicians and GPs who work with patients with immune disease
  • Medical students who wish to train to become doctors
  • Specialist trainees in areas relevant to immune disease

Australian National University-Tsinghua University Masters of Management

In 2018 ANU and Tsinghua University celebrated 15 years of joint education program delivery of a Masters of Management program. It is a prestigious qualification that has attracted over a thousand students, many already successful in their field, who want to broaden their understanding of global business management. It is also an opportunity to develop a professional network with peers and alumni.
