Classics Endowment
You can be part of the future of ANU Classics
Welcome to the giving page for the Classics Endowment, our general philanthropic fund to support the vital work of teaching, research and outreach at the ANU Centre for Classical Studies.
We invite you to learn more about our full range of current philanthropic priorities by clicking the links above– there are many different opportunities to get involved, and this Endowment Fund is one of several avenues for your support.
Our Centre offers majors in Ancient Greek, Latin, and Ancient History, where students become accomplished readers and interpreters of ancient languages and experts in the literature, history, society, philosophy, art, and archaeology of Ancient Greece and Rome. Here, students investigate how Greek and Roman cultures continue to shape our contemporary world, receiving mentorship from internationally renowned teaching staff and gaining access to outstanding library resources in the Classics Centre, alongside hands-on training in material culture through our much-loved Classics Museum.
A gift to the Classics Endowment Fund can enable our Centre to:
- Transform our academic future by funding new academic positions that will secure dedicated leadership in this vital field.
- Expand our curriculum and research expertise, contributing to our collective understanding of what makes us human.
- Bring distinguished international visitors to Canberra to share their expertise through lectures and seminars, connecting our students with leading global scholarship.
- Offer a range of prizes and scholarships that ensure the best and brightest students are encouraged in their studies and supported to thrive.
- Continue our outreach program with schools and community groups through tours, workshops and seminars, sharing the joy, fascination and intellectual rewards of a Classics education throughout our community.
Studying ancient languages and cultures helps us to deeply understand the past, reflect on its salutary lessons for our contemporary times, and be reminded of the remarkable resilience of the human spirit.
Your generosity ensures that the profound insights of the ancient world will continue to be taught and studied at ANU for generations to come.
