Message from the COO - Expenditure Taskforce Update
As part of our ongoing commitment to financial sustainability, the University conducted a consultation process late last year to identify and evaluate further savings opportunities as part of the work of the Non-Salary Expenditure Taskforce.
In the last On Campus of 2024, it was noted that we received 138 pieces of feedback and suggestions from across the University community, including 90 items related to existing initiatives and 48 proposals considering additional measures. All feedback has been passed on and is being reviewed and incorporated for consideration of implementation. Your input has been invaluable in helping identify additional areas of possible savings that can be investigated in the next round of discovery, as well as shaping the next steps for those initiatives already identified.
As we move into 2025, our commitment to financial sustainability remains a top priority. The work of the Taskforce this year will focus on several key priorities, including:
- Evaluating and implementing savings measures identified through the consultation process to date.
- Exploring additional ideas and innovative solutions to address financial challenges.
- Strengthening collaboration with suppliers and stakeholders to identify shared opportunities and partnerships to support our financial goals.
However, this work cannot be done in isolation. We will still need your ideas and input to ensure our decisions reflect the needs and perspectives of the community. We encourage you to stay engaged, actively participate as we start to implement the changes and share your feedback as we move forward.
To advance our 2025 priorities, the implementation phase for the Taskforce will be kicking off with a workshop later this month. Regular updates on our progress will be shared in upcoming editions of On Campus, ensuring transparency and keeping everyone informed.
